The Work

MOTIVATIONOnce I attended a dinner party for fellow Artist and Creatives, and we began speaking on ART; who makes it, who decides. I had cleared the floor for my voice and due to the fact I was the ONLY colored face invited to this dinner party; I had several things to say when I essentially interrupted by a ANON Caucasian Photographer who said to me:
“The work you are trying to do sounds great, but you know…Black Artist dont create work like that”
I leaned into the table, climbed it, and slowly slithered across it, crawling on all fours until my face meet his.
I looked him dead in the eyes and said.

INCEPTIONConnection is a core part of the process.”
Eleven years ago I met a man. That man out a camera in my hand; a my 1st DSLR Nikon. That became my husband. He encouraged my work and loved the way I see/saw things. He would often say to me, “You see people.Its like you see right through them.”
I do that…see through..by waiting for moments when the person thinks Im not paying attention;
Im “checking my ISO” on the camera.. or right after they have said something personal.
Most often…its while they are thinking.
“Your quiet moment is
